There is currently three wave buoys deployed offshore along the Gold Coast at:
The wave buoys record wave information such as wave height and direction. This information is used to inform our coastal projects such as the Palm Beach Shoreline Project, by allowing us to better understand real-world conditions. They are also really useful for beach users such as surfers to keep an eye on local conditions and figure out where to score the best waves.
The wave buoys are operated by the Queensland Department of Science, Information Technology and Innovation.
