South Stradbroke Island, or commonly known as South Straddie, is one of more than 360 islands within Moreton Bay. The southern end of South Stradbroke Island fronts the Broadwater, and the tip marks the Gold Coast Seaway.
Although not easily accessible, South Stradbroke Island is a popular spot for surfers with the area at the southern tip of the island collecting the most swell in the city. When the swell is small in the rest of the city, you can often find it pumping at TOS.
The island also has hundreds of wild wallabies that are well known for joining campers at their fires.
Please note, beaches on this island are not patrolled.
